Amphora Projects and The 1 Hotel South Beach are pleased to present Waterforms, a collaborative installation by artists Frankie Batista & Aaron Alden, on permanent exhibit at Watr inside 1 Hotel South Beach. This exhibition celebrates the transformative and essential nature of water, exploring its beauty, motion, and vital connection to humanity.
Water is a force of nature, a mirror of humanity, and the essence of our natural connection. Through this exhibit, the undeniable, universal source of life takes center stage. WATERFORMS, a site-specific installation presented during Art Basel Miami 2024, has been commissioned into the permanent collection at 1 Hotel South Beach for the entryway of their rooftop restaurant Watr, transforming the entryway into reflections of water’s beauty and importance. Within these ultra slow-motion aqua-kinetic video projections, the artists reveal water’s power to shape, to flow, and to sustain, offering not just a visual spectacle but an urgent message about sustainability and interconnectedness.
Presented in partnership with the 1 Hotel South Beach, The City of Miami, and ocean preservation organization Blue Action, this exhibit underscores these organizations' shared commitment to sustainability, with each location articulating the unique relationship that connects viewers to the nature of water and its universal presence. This thoughtfully curated installation engages the viewer in a dialogue about the fragility of our environment while celebrating water as a timeless and unifying force.
WATERFORMS is not just an exhibit, it is a call to action. It asks us to consider water not only as a resource but as an ever-present force that shapes our world, and our shared future. In its movement and flow, viewers will find an invitation to connect – with the work, with each other, and with the element that sustains us all.

BLUE ACTION
Blue Action originated in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, a powerful and destructive storm that struck The Bahamas in 2019.
It was established with the primary mission of driving climate resilience for low-lying coastal communities and their ocean ecosystems in light of the climate crisis.
Blue Action has expanded to become an internationally recognized company that accelerates mitigation and adaptation solutions for climate resilience through investment in innovation, entrepreneurship, and capacity-building.
Plastic Ocean Trash, or Marine Debris, is the second largest environmental issue after climate change. It threatens oceans, wildlife, tourism, real estate, and human health.
VolunteerCleanup.Org builds a grassroots movement against marine debris by connecting volunteers to cleanups, showing the shocking scale of the problem, and promoting reduced single-use plastic reliance.Since 2024, the platform has facilitated over 4,000 cleanups, with thousands of volunteers removing 800,000+ pounds of trash from Miami-Dade County beaches and shorelines.
